What is SMA?

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disorder that weakens the muscles and affects movement. It primarily impacts children, causing difficulty with activities such as crawling, walking, and breathing. SMA is caused by a mutation in the SMN1 gene, which is responsible for producing a protein necessary for muscle function. With your help, we aim to fund research and support families dealing with SMA.
